Buddy has a hopeless father who is an aging rocker, interested only in Elvis and bikes, and living on the fringes of the under-world. When Buddy's mum walks out, the two manage to strike up some kind of relationship - until Buddy realizes that his dad is involved in something more serious than he suspected. A moving, totally convincing account of a boy's faltering relationship with his father.

'What''s going on at 56 Croxley Street and could that house hold the answer to what Terry''s mysterious new job is this? Is just one of the questions asked in this book. book as part of an English class last year and it has been my favourite book we''ve read! The ending was a little rushed but on the whole it was a good plot line, full of suspence and wonderment.'

'Review of Buddy
Author- Nigel Hinton
Publisher- Puffin
No. of pages- 133
Buddy Clark is the main character. His dad Terry Clark is a mega Buddy Holly fan thus his son is called Buddy. His mum Carol Clark leaves home early in the story leaving an unemployed Terry to care for Buddy.
Terry comes home one night announcing his new job. That same night he tells Buddy a story about a house (56 Croxley Street) where a man murdered his wife then hung himself. Is this house connected with his dad’s mysterious new job? , or is it just a coincidence that his dad told the story on the same night his new job was found? All these questions and more will be answered if you read this fantastic book.
I thought this book really captured how hard family life can sometimes be but no matter what we are still lucky to have our family however weird they are.
The dialogue said a lot about the people speaking. It really captured their accents.
The ending could be improved it seemed in a hurry to end and I really would of liked to know a bit more about the family situation nearer the end.
I think it is suitable for readers in their early teenage years that enjoy fiction stories.
I would give the book four out of five as I really enjoyed reading it and could just picture everything that was happening clearly in my head.
