This entry in Zlata's diary in April 1992 shows how the war draws relentlessly closer to her home in Sarajevo. When she starts her diary, Zlata tells of her normal, happy life with her family and friends. But soon they are fighting to survive. Like Zlata I too lived through the 1992 massacre in Bosnia, I was only two years old. I think that her diary shows everyone what war really is and exactly how life goes on. I personally want to thank her for writing an excerpt on the day of my birthday. I cant remember much of my life back then, her diary helped me understand what people like her had to go through. Today I'm fifteen and would love to meet Zlata. Her book inspired me to go on with my life and try to forget what a horrible thing war is, it's kind of hard to do.
