Reviewer: Tommy
'Danny, a young Man City fan who has dreams of being a detective. At the beginning of the book, he is investigating a case of robberies in various shops across town in the dead of night. When he gets on a bus back home, he sees Sam the best footballer in the league, stagger on to the bus. Gutted that he hasn“t got his notebook to get an autograph or even his phone to take a picture, Danny is upset. The next day he finds out that Sam has been kidnapped. The kidnappers demand £10,000 as ransom money. Danny, suspecting foul play, starts to investigate. What could be Danny“s first proper investigation could also be his last. The book has a common plot of a teenager who wants to be a detective but Tom Palmer has turned a common plot into a great detective story. I would rate this 10/10 because the surprises he uses are very good. The only bad thing is that Tom Palmer has to compete with many other writers who use teenage detective stories like Eoin Colfer with Half-Moon Investigations and Anthony Horowitz with The Diamond Brothers. I preferred Foul Play as it is more to do with investigating than comedy.'Product details
