Plymmouth City Roald Dahl Day Everything you always wanted to know about Roald Dahl but didn't know who to ask...until now!
10.00am to 12.00pm, 13 September 2007

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to find out about Roald Dahl from the people who knew him - and know about him - the best.

Your class or school has the opportunity to attend this unique event and put all your questions to Lucy Dahl - his youngest daughter and Theo Dahl - his son (both flying in from the US especially for the occasion), Brough Girling - a longtime colleague and friend, and Amanda Conquy, a director of Roald Dahl's literary estate, the Roald Dahl Foundation and trustee of the award-winning Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden.

STOP PRESS!! The event will also be chaired by the new Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen!!

To register interest in your class or school attending please book tickets through the Crescent Theatre box office 0121 643 5858. Admission is free (though numbers are limited to 30 tickets per booking).

Celebrate Roald Dahl Day by entering the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre’s phizz-whizzing prize draw held in association with Seven Stories, the Centre for Children’s Books in Newcastle, and The Times Educational Supplement.

All you have to do is send a postcard to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre for your chance to win a fantabulous prize

How do I enter?

Imagine you are a Roald Dahl character. Where would Mr Twit go on holiday? What museums and libraries would Matilda like to visit? Which hotel would be big enough for the BFG? Write a holiday postcard from your favourite Roald Dahl character and send it to the Roald Dahl Museum. There are two prize draws you can enter:

1. The Schools Postcard Prize Draw

Primary schools can win a year’s subscription to The Time Educational Supplement plus a class visit to Seven Stories or the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre (Including up to £150 towards travel). Send postcards for this draw to Schools Postcard Prize Draw, The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, 81-83 High Street, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, HP16 0AL, with each class’s entries marked separately. Include the school’s name and address, phone and email contact for the teacher, and which museum you would like to visit. Entries must reach the Roald Dahl Museum by the closing date of 12 September 2007.

2. The Individual Prize Draw

Ten lucky winners will receive a Charlie-themed figurine, a book of their choice (up to the value of £15) and a free family ticket to either the Roald Dahl Museum or Seven Stories. Send postcards for this draw to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, 81-83 High Street, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, HP16 0AL. Remember to include your name, age and address on the postcard and stick on a stamp before you drop it in a post box. Make sure it reaches the Roald Dahl Museum by the closing date of 12 September 2007.

A selection of the funniest, cleverest postcards will go on display at the Roald Dahl Museum and Seven Stories in the autumn. For full details of prizes and terms and conditions please visit www.tes.co.uk/dahl
